Investing in Teak Furniture for your
Garden
Teakwood is
extremely dense-grained and highly resistant to rot, warping, shrinkage, and
swelling, and in my case the chewing of a Boxer puppy, making it perfect for
outdoor garden and patio furniture.
The avenge life of outdoor teakwood patio
furniture is approximately 75 years. This means that your children or
grandchildren will be enjoying this furniture after you have past on. I am the
proud owner of teak furniture, which belonged to my grandparents and has always
been outside in the weather. My brother and I have estimated this furniture to
be closer to 100 years old, and it is still in excellent condition. When you
purchase real Teak garden furniture, you are investing in value. Teakwood is the
perfect choice for outdoor furniture, for it will give you countless years of
carefree enjoyment.
Teakwood is extremely dense-grained and highly resistant to rot, warping,
shrinkage, and swelling, and in my case the chewing of a Boxer puppy, making it
perfect for outdoor garden and patio furniture. History claims that some of the
teakwood benches found in British public parks today came from recycled decking
from old sailing ships, which makes the wood of these benches nearly a century
old. When selecting the style of Teak furniture, choose carefully as it will
probably become a family heirloom.
Teakwood is also the most simplest to care for, needing only an annual washing
with mild warm soapy water. New teakwood will develop a beautiful patina of
silver gray as it ages. You can leave teak in this natural state or, if you
desire, sand and then rubbed it with Teak oil to restore the original honey
color. Teak does not splinter, so that there is no risk of little ones picking
up a splinter and the wood remains smooth to the touch forever. I am like many
teakwood furniture owners and I leave my teak furniture outside year around,
hosing it off occasionally to remove the pollen and dust that it has collected.
Today’s teakwood is harvested from government plantations in Indonesia that
replant as they harvest the tress, making teakwood ecologically friendly as
well. Teak furniture is usually made with all mortise and tendon joinery,
resulting solid and durable pieces of furniture. Some manufacturers will also
use solid brass castings, screws, and bolts as reinforcements in the
construction. This solid brass hardware never rusts, even when left outside in
any weather conditions.
You can purchase teakwood furniture in many timeless and classic styles. If you
are looking for a dining table and matching chairs, a single garden bench,
steamer chairs, chaise lounges, Adirondack chairs, or any of the other form of
Teak furniture, you can be assured that what ever you purchase your teak
furniture will last.
